Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief in Hawthorne, Nevada, to work with the Fire Chief to plan policies and set goals for the department and the assigned platoon. The role will serve as Operations Officer and On-Scene Commander for all emergency responses.

Must obtain/maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US Citizenship is required. Duties include directing platoon operations, coordinating training, and ensuring readiness of personnel and equipment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in the fire service (full-time, part-time, volunteer, or technical training).
• State of Nevada Firefighter I & II certification required.
• Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards for essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop policies and goals for the department and assigned platoon.
• Direct platoon operations through a subordinate officer.
• Serve as Operations Officer and on-scene Commander for all emergencies.
• Maintain discipline and morale of firefighters; ensure staffing and readiness of equipment.
• Schedule training drills and inspections; supervise reports and records.
• Recommend changes to Standing Operating Procedures to improve systems and response.
