Our client, a well-established business management firm serving high-net-worth clients in the entertainment industry, has engaged us to identify an Assistant Controller to join their accounting team. This individual will assist in all accounting matters and will play a key role in the continued development of the accounting organization. This position is based in their Los Angeles office and reports directly to the Controller and firm leadership.

Job Essential, Responsibilities, Duties:

The position will be involved in all aspects of the accounting systems for three corporate entities (one operating and two owner entities with minimal activity); and reporting financial information to the partners/owners. Specific responsibilities are as follows:

  • Directly involved in all financial activities of the company
  • Assisting to provide the partners/owners the information and analysis that they need in order to run the business to make it even more successful and profitable
  • Timely preparation of all financial reports including monthly reporting to partners/owners
  • Direct involvement of all billing, accounts payable and receivable; and general ledger
  • Direct involvement with and management of the company’s Axcess management system for time reporting and client profitability reporting
  • Direct involvement in federal, state and local filings and compliance including business tax, use tax, property taxes and 1099s.
  • Direct involvement in key projects
  • Assisting with the administration of all insurance policies and coordination with payroll and other service providers
  • Budgeting and analysis
  • Maintain strong working relationships with outside auditors and tax accountants and participate in the annual regulatory and tax engagements

Education & Skills:

  • 7+ years with increasing accounting responsibility
  • Experience in the service industry and business management industry is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities
