Job summary

Seaboard Foods in Optima, OK is seeking a Feed Mill Assistant Manager to support the Feed Mill Manager in daily operations. You will supervise production staff, help manage quality, safety, and costs, and ensure compliance with GMP standards across the mill.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, training of new employees, and effective communication with cross-functional teams to maintain smooth, efficient production and reliable results for our feeds.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Ability to understand automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel).
• Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Responsibilities

• Determine work assignments and adjust procedures to meet production schedules.
• Oversee quality conformance to GMP standards.
• Learn flow of materials and operate all areas of the feed mill.
• Review daily usage and inventory; investigate discrepancies.
• Train and supervise employees; address issues and disciplina as needed.
• Prepare reports and delegate duties to staff.

We have an exciting Feed Mill Assistant Manager opportunity in Optima, OK. The Assistant Feed Mill Manager will assist the Feed mill Manager with the daily operations of the feed mill department by supervising production employees, overseeing the production, quality, costs and safety of the mill.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Determine work assignments, establish or adjust work procedures to meet plant or production schedules.
• Oversee procedures to verify conformance to the high standards of quality as established by the current Good Manufacturing Practices for the industry.
• Learn and understand the flow of all materials, incoming and out-going, and the standard operating procedures of all areas of the Feed Mill. Must be able to operate all areas of the feed mill and completely understand automation systems.
• Review all daily usage and inventory; investigate and correct all discrepancies.
• Recommend measures to improve mill and transportation production methods, equipment performance and quality of service and carry out any needed corrective action.
• Train new employees: plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; discipline of employees as needed; address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Timely and accurately document and follow up on any employee or operating issues.
• Maintain collaborative working relationships with supervisors, peers, subordinates, internal and external customers.
• Prepare various reports and delegate appropriate duties to subordinate employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• High School or GED.
• Ability to understand automation systems including mechanical and or electrical experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate all routine reports and correspondence. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel etc.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Preferred:

• S. degree in Feed Science preferred. Four or more years' related experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is commonly exposed to airborne particles and gases at low concentrations.
• The employee is frequently exposed to feed dust.
• The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or more up to 300 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
