The AFSO / CSSO supports the Security Manager in overseeing all aspects of facility security, with a specific focus on Special Access Programs (SAP). The AFSO / CSSO ensures compliance with government security regulations, including DOD 5205.07 Volume 2, NISPOM, and other relevant policies, to protect sensitive and classified information. This role includes maintaining personnel security files, processing clearance actions, administering required security training, and assisting with access control and badging systems.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of government security regulations for the protection of sensitive and classified information ensuring compliance with our customers and their policies and procedures for protecting data and meeting contractual requirements. Specifically, knowledge of DOD 5205.07 Volume 2 SAP Access Program Security Manual : Personnel Security.
- Assist the Security Manager in maintaining personnel security files for all assigned personnel.
- Review and track clearance processing activities with appropriate personnel to achieve appropriate clearance actions.
- Conduct initial and annual required security training to employees at the SCI and SAP level.
- Familiarization with badging and access control systems with the ability to assist the security manager with issuing necessary badging / access cards.
- Initiate Background Investigations (BI's) and CV Updates using current systems of record (i.e., DISS and NBIS).
- Experience with multiple security databases such as DISS, NCAISS, NISS, NBIS, e-APP and SIMS, and SCINET, JADE
- Process incoming and outgoing visit requests for SCI and SAP.
- Assist the security manager in reviewing and certifying sub-contractor DD-254's.
- OTHER or ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provide backup and assistance to the security manager for SAP security
- Act as alternate POC for security compliance inspections and audits.
- Assist the Security Manager with conducting facility security annual self-inspections and assessments to review security procedures and provide recommendations to the Security Manager.
- Coordinate and work with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to ensure proper implementation of media protection accountability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Working knowledge of CFR 32 Part 117 (National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), and associated industrial security policies and regulations.
- Experience with DISS, NCAISS, NISS, PIEE, e-APP, NBIS, and SIMS databases.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills are required for correspondence, reports, briefings, and procedures, good verbal and listening skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with personnel at all levels, including external government agencies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing sensitive data and multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Dependable and trustworthy, with a demonstrated ability to handle classified information discreetly and responsibly.
- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government background investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for access to Top Secret / SCI information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Physical Requirements / Working Environment :
Ability to lift 20 pounds.
- This position requires onsite work in El Segundo, CA 5 days per week.
- Requires ability to stand, sit, climb a ladder, and walk to conduct physical security inspections.
- Experience :
3-10 years' experience working in the security environment.
- 4 to 6 years' experience working in industry supporting program management or industrial security for a government contractor is highly desirable.
- Education :
Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline. One year of experience in the Security field may be substituted for each year of the four years of college.
- Ability to obtain the FSO program management for possessing and SAP Personnel Security Official (SPO) certifications within 6 months of start date
- TS / SCI Eligibility required and ability to gain SAP access, experience preferred.
- Salary Range : $60,000 - $110,000 / Year, DOE

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
