Job summary

Health Dimensions Group seeks an Assistant Executive Director to support the Executive Director at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home in Sparks, NV. The 96-bed community delivers skilled nursing, short-term rehab, long-term care, and memory care, with a mission to serve Nevada veterans and their families.

The role leads operations, drives quality and regulatory compliance, and partners with department leaders to ensure exceptional service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience within a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with project planning, development, and implementation preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with healthcare partners and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of operational and financial components of skilled nursing and long-term care.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations applicable to skilled nursing and long-term care.
  • Computer proficiency and comfort with business systems.

Responsibilities

Northern Nevada State Veterans Home is a 96-bed veterans home community providing skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, including short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and memory care. What You’ll Do (AKA: Your Superpowers)
Lead & Support Community Operations
  • Partner closely with the Executive Director to plan, develop, and implement operational strategies that support exceptional resident care and overall community performance.

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the 96-bed veterans home while helping ensure quality care, regulatory compliance, and strong operational outcomes.

  • Provide leadership and administrative direction in the Executive Director’s absence, serving as acting Executive Director when needed.

  • Serve as an integral member of the Leadership Team, supporting programs, projects, and operational initiatives across the community.

  • Provide direct oversight and leadership to assigned departments and department leaders.

  • Build meaningful relationships with residents, veterans and their families, team members, and community partners.

  • Conduct regular community rounds and proactively identify opportunities to improve the resident, family, and team member experience.

  • Address concerns in a timely, thoughtful, and effective manner.

Champion Quality & Operational Excellence
  • Partner with the Executive Director and department leaders to support Quality Assurance initiatives and continuous improvement throughout the community.

  • Assist with audits, survey preparation, regulatory compliance, and follow-up to help maintain strong standards of care and operations.

  • Support the development and implementation of community policies and procedures.

  • Help ensure operations remain aligned with resident needs, company standards, and applicable state, federal, and local regulations.

  • Support operational excellence across short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, memory care, and skilled nursing services.

  • Oversee assigned Caring Above & Beyond programs and help bring HDG’s commitment to exceptional service to life throughout the community.

Develop & Support Our Team
  • Support new hire orientation and mentorship to help team members feel welcomed, prepared, and positioned for success.

  • Partner with community leadership to coordinate required education, training, and professional development.

  • Ensure required education is completed and team members have the tools and resources needed to succeed.

  • Support Compliance and Employee Safety initiatives and requirements.

  • Provide coaching, direction, and support to department leaders and team members while promoting accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.

  • Help foster a positive workplace culture centered on collaboration, communication, and exceptional service.

Drive Financial & Business Performance
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Finance leadership in the development of budgets and required financial reporting.

  • Support department leaders in the ongoing financial management and performance of their departments.

  • Help identify opportunities to strengthen operational efficiencies and drive successful financial results.

  • Support community census goals and required reporting.

  • Collaborate with local healthcare partners and community stakeholders to strengthen relationships and support the continued success of Northern Nevada State Veterans Home.

What You Bring to the Table
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience within a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting required.

Administrator Licensure
  • Must be willing and able to obtain Nevada Nursing Facility Administrator licensure.

  • Candidates who are not currently licensed must be willing to complete the required six-month Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program/course approved by the Nevada Board as part of the pathway toward obtaining licensure.

  • A strong interest in developing into a licensed nursing facility administrator and continuing to grow within senior living and long-term care leadership is essential.
