Gardner-Watson Decking, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Estimator to support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for commercial metal decking projects across the United States.

Working with experienced estimators, you will review drawings, perform takeoffs, gather project data, and assist with pricing and bid preparation. This role offers growth as you assume greater responsibility for estimating and bid development, leveraging strong analytical and computer skills,

Qualifications

• Review construction drawings, specs, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for metal decking.
• Request and evaluate pricing from suppliers.
• Organize project information and supporting documentation to assist estimators.
• Work with estimators to meet bid deadlines and support multiple pursuits.
• Review project scope to identify risks, missing information, and cost impacts.
• Stay abreast of supplier changes and market pricing.
• Help maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and bid documents to inform estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare related scope calculations.
• Assist with pricing and bid preparation for commercial decking projects.
• Coordinate with estimators, PMs, and operations during handoff after award.
• Support value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost data.
• Contribute to bid review meetings and cost discussions.
