Job summary

Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park is seeking an Assistant Equipment Mechanic to support daily golf course maintenance. You will help maintain and repair equipment (electric, gas, diesel), perform routine service tasks, and assist diagnostics to keep gear ready for the crew.

The role requires 3–5 years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong mechanical aptitude. Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Accredited technical training preferred.
• 3-5 years of maintenance experience required.
• Experience with 2-stroke, gas, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance and repair of golf course equipment (electric, gas, and diesel).
• Perform routine service tasks such as oil changes, tire repair/replacement, and lubrication.
• Support diagnostics and troubleshooting across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Help manage preventative maintenance programs through equipment hour tracking.
• Prepare equipment daily for crew use, including fueling, inspections, and staging.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
• Run errands and locate parts as needed.
• Assist repairing clubhouse maintenance units.
• Other duties as needed and assigned.

Work Schedule and Hours

The Greens & Grounds team maintains core operating hours of 6:00am to 2:30pm. Regular work schedule to be determined in collaboration with team within and beyond core operating hours. Requires regular early morning, weekend, and holiday availability.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Ability to lift, push, and pull parts and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds independently. Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling to access equipment. High level fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and visual acuity.

Work performed primarily in shop and on golf course in varying conditions (indoor, outdoor, weather exposure, varying terrain, etc.). Frequent exposure to high decibel sounds. Regular contact with fumes and chemicals (gasoline, diesel, hydraulic oils, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.).

Pay Rate

This is an hourly position ranging from $30-35 per hour. Pay commensurate with experience and qualifications.
