Seaward Services Assistant Engineer Job Description

Seaward Services is seeking an Assistant Engineer for our operation.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The Assistant Engineer is a member of the Engineering Department responsible for the maintenance and operation of mechanical and hydraulic equipment onboard the vessel Seaward Endeavor or Seaward Explorer. They are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and hydraulic equipment, lubricating moving parts of the engine and machinery, and ensuring effective communication of technical requirements to company representatives, regulatory personnel, and vessel crew. Minimum DDE 4000 required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in ship's technical maintenance and ensure the safe, efficient, economical operation of machinery.
  2. Follow all engine room procedures.
  3. Support engineering/technical department tasks.
  4. Maintain sufficient bunkers and essential engine-related stores and consumables.
  5. Assist in the safe and efficient loading and transferring of bunkers.
  6. Participate in the daily operation of plant and machinery.
  7. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and technical jobs under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
  8. Stand engine room watch during vessel operation or as needed.
  9. Keep logs of lube/oil quantities and consumption.
  10. Monitor and analyze cooling water.
  11. Assist in maintaining the condition of machinery, steering gear, air conditioning, etc.
  12. Carry out engine room watches and maintenance tasks.
  13. Assist with firefighting and emergency procedures onboard.
  14. Provide training and orientation to crew members about vessel operations.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  1. Valid Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
  2. Minimum DD-4000 endorsement
  3. Valid U.S. Passport
  4. Valid USCG Medical Certificate
  5. QMED Endorsement
  6. Valid TWIC Card
  7. Ability to pass physical and written exams
Salary:

$500 per day, full-time
