Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, is seeking an Assistant Engineering Project Manager to support engineering controls, cost scheduling, and procurement for high voltage substations and transmission projects in Austin, TX. You will work under the guidance of the Supervising Project Manager to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, plus familiarity with Primavera P6 or MS Project and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or other related field; applicable experience may substitute the degree.
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project; one year preferred.
  • Strong project controls experience in a Power/industrial environment is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and data reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating engineering cost schedules and coordinating procurement for high voltage projects.
  • Support scheduling, cost control, and subcontractor management under the EPM.

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services (trading as PWR), is a leading national provider of technical and construction services supporting critical electric infrastructure. We serve electric utilities, power generation, industrial, renewable, and energy markets with integrated capabilities spanning planning and system studies, engineering and design, maintenance and testing, program management, construction, and turnkey EPC delivery.

Primary Function

The Assistant Engineering Project Manager provides support for project management and control activities within the Engineering Department, working under the guidance of the Project Manager to help ensure projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within scope. The position will be based in our Austin, TX office located at 11501 Burnet Rd BLDG 906 STE 200 Austin, TX 78758 and will report to Dashiell's Supervising Project Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Engineering Project Manager is responsible for facilitating the creation of engineering cost schedules, coordinating procurement and managing subcontractors for high voltage substation and transmission line projects while ensuring resource management and cost accounting initiatives.

  • Maintain and update project data across Smartsheet, trackers, logs, and reporting tools, including deliverables, requisitions, forecasts, change orders, and action items.
  • Prepare draft weekly and monthly reports, dashboards, and summaries; ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate and follow up on routine status updates from engineering leads and stakeholders, aligned with the reporting cadence.
  • Escalate missing inputs, conflicting information, and potential schedule impacts to the EPM.
  • Support EPM-led meetings through scheduling, agenda preparation, meeting minutes, and follow-up coordination.
  • Maintain and track action items to closure, ensuring clear ownership, due dates, and escalation of overdue items.
  • Provide administrative, reporting, and coordination support under EPM direction; refer all scope, schedule, cost, and technical decisions appropriately.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project documentation is current, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

  • Enhance team efficiency by supporting meeting coordination, documentation, and follow-up activities.
  • Strengthen project controls by maintaining organized, consistent, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Support successful project execution by enabling the EPM to focus on critical scope, schedule, and cost decisions.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or other related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Possess Skills In The Following Areas
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. One year of experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior project controls experience is required. Experience within the Power Industry is preferred.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail to accurately complete order entries, research for proposals, and complete reports as needed
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written, to convey thoughts, ideas, and facts to a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment to meet all deadlines
  • Proficient with MS Office including, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations.
Environmental Conditions
  • Primarily climate-controlled office environment.
  • Occasional exposure to field or industrial environments during site visits.
