Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project; one year preferred.
  • Prior project controls experience; Power Industry preferred.
  • Attention to detail to accurately complete orders, research proposals, and reports.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Create engineering cost schedules and coordinate procurement for high voltage projects.
  • Maintain project data across Smartsheet, trackers, logs, and reporting tools.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports, dashboards, and summaries; ensure data accuracy.
  • Coordinate status updates from engineering leads and stakeholders; align with cadence.

Primary Function:

The Assistant Engineering Project Manager provides support for project management and control activities within the Engineering Department, working under the guidance of the Project Manager to help ensure projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within scope.

The position will be based in our Dallas, TX office located at 1301 Solana Blvd Bldg 2 STE 2500 Westlake, TX 76262 and will report to Dashiell's Supervising Project Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Engineering Project Manager is responsible for facilitating the creation of engineering cost schedules, coordinating procurement and managing subcontractors for high voltage substation and transmission line projects while ensuring resource management and cost accounting initiatives.

  • Maintain and update project data across Smartsheet, trackers, logs, and reporting tools, including deliverables, requisitions, forecasts, change orders, and action items.
  • Prepare draft weekly and monthly reports, dashboards, and summaries; ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate and follow up on routine status updates from engineering leads and stakeholders, aligned with the reporting cadence.
  • Escalate missing inputs, conflicting information, and potential schedule impacts to the EPM.
  • Support EPM-led meetings through scheduling, agenda preparation, meeting minutes, and follow-up coordination.
  • Maintain and track action items to closure, ensuring clear ownership, due dates, and escalation of overdue items.
  • Provide administrative, reporting, and coordination support under EPM direction; refer all scope, schedule, cost, and technical decisions appropriately.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project documentation is current, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Improve project visibility by ensuring accurate, timely, and well-organized data across all tracking and reporting tools.
  • Enable effective decision-making by preparing reliable reports, dashboards, and status summaries for EPM review.
  • Drive accountability by coordinating status updates and tracking action items to closure.
  • Reduce project risk by identifying and escalating missing information, inconsistencies, and potential schedule impacts early.
  • Enhance team efficiency by supporting meeting coordination, documentation, and follow-up activities.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or other related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Possess skills in the following areas:
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. One year of experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior project controls experience is required. Experience within the Power Industry is preferred.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail to accurately complete order entries, research for proposals, and complete reports as needed.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written, to convey thoughts, ideas, and facts to a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment to meet all deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office including, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations.
