Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Immediate potential for or registration as a Professional Engineer in NV/CA preferred.
  • Four+ years of geotechnical engineering experience required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and geotechnical software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals for moderate to complex geotechnical projects.
  • Develop and execute services and analyses as per project scope.
  • Perform engineering analyses using standard methodologies and company practices.
  • Prepare reports with professional opinions and geotechnical solutions.
  • Review development plans for compliance with geotechnical requirements.
  • Respond to RFIs during construction.

Assistant Engineer

Department: Geotechnical

Location: Reno, NV

Compensation: $30.00 - $42.00 / hour

Description

Wood Rodgers is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will support our geotechnical projects and work under the guidance of our Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.

What you will be doing
  • Prepare proposals for moderate to complex geotechnical projects.
  • Develop and execute services and analyses indicated in the project scope.
  • Perform engineering analysis using company and industry methodologies and standards.
  • Prepare engineering reports providing professional opinions and reasonable geotechnical solutions including:
    • Formulating design recommendations for civil, commercial, and residential structures.
    • Providing recommendations for roadway rehabilitation and new structural pavement sections.
  • Review of development plans for compliance with the project’s geotechnical report requirements.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) during construction.
  • Other duties as assigned, potentially including forensic investigations, development and design of innovative solutions to unique problems and writing technical reports from scratch (i.e. not relying upon a master report or template).
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil Engineering.
  • Immediate potential for or registration as a Professional Engineer in Nevada and California.
  • Four or more years of experience in performing work as a geotechnical engineer.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)
  • Familiarity with software for assessing slope stability, liquefaction, pavement design, and deep foundations.

The range does not reflect geographic variations and may fluctuate above or below the stated amount. Offers will be based on several factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, training, and location. Base pay is just one part of the comprehensive compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
