Job summary
Daemen University is seeking an Assistant Electrician to join our Facilities Services team. The role covers installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring, lighting and controls across campus housing and admin buildings; regular inspections and documentation of system status are required.
The position emphasizes safety and compliance with the National Electrical Code. The candidate will work Monday–Friday with potential for extended hours and weekend response to emergencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational cert or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years' experience in the electrical trade.
- Ability to read/write/speak English and follow safety regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance and repair.
- Reliable, self-motivated with good communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, modify and repair electrical wiring, controls, and lighting systems.
- Ensure compliance with state/local codes and the National Electrical Code.
- Inspect and test electrical components and record results.
- Run cables, connect jacks, and test for proper operation.
- Work collaboratively with campus staff and observe safety protocols.
