Job summary

Great American Media in Arlington, TX is seeking a Freelance Assistant Editor to join our Post-Production Team. You will support editing projects across podcasts, movies, and series, preparing edit timelines, and creating producer selects while meeting tight deadlines.

The role requires hands-on editing with Adobe Premiere and Audition, DaVinci Resolve, and familiarity with AI tools for editorial workflows. Onsite work and occasional long hours are expected as production schedules dictate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 3+ years of experience as Assistant Editor.
• Willingness to work extended hours is crucial.
• Knowledge of full-service production facilities and editing tech.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop; Avid and Resolve a plus.

We are seeking a growth-centric, excellence-focused Freelance Assistant Editor to join our team. Candidate must be able to work onsite at our Texas Headquarters (Arlington, TX 76006).

Applicants must be able to start immediately. This is a contract position that will run through the end of December 2026, with the possibility of extension into 2027. The Assistant Editor will typically work eight-hour days, with some shifts extending up to 10 hours based on production deadlines.

Job Purpose

The Assistant Editor plays a critical role on the Post-Production Team by supporting a variety of editing and media-management projects, including podcasts, movies, series, quality control, metadata, and producer selects. This role prepares edit timelines, creates selects for producers, and assists editors and the media manager with active project workloads.

The Assistant Editor must have previous assistant editorial experience and solid knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Adobe Audition. The Assistant Editor must also be versed in using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity AI to assist with editorial and media-management work. Working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve and Avid is highly preferred. This person must be extremely organized, self-directed, and able to work without daily supervision while supporting internal and external producers on a variety of projects.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work extended hours is crucial
• General knowledge of a full-service production facility (production, post-production, graphics, and audio) along with general technical & production equipment knowledge
• Strong computer skills are required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
• Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop are required
• Working knowledge of Avid and Resolve are a plus.
• Must be able to maintain composure while working in high pressure and fast-moving situations
• Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and time management skills are essential to the success of this job
