Job Summary

An assistant driver is a vital part of the sales process of the pre-sell team. The assistant driver works directly with the driver salesman to perform job duties, including up-selling products and establishing professional relationships with accounts to ensure timely product delivery. The role requires teamwork, communication, and customer satisfaction focus, with additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications
  • Must be licensed and able to drive a motor vehicle, working towards obtaining a CDL.
  • Must maintain insurability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Basic computer, handheld device, and math skills.
  • Licensed by T.A.B.C. to sell alcoholic beverages.
Department Of Transportation Duties
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Report inspection discrepancies and ensure load safety.
  • Assist driver with backing operations and hazard awareness.
  • Secure equipment and ensure doors are locked before leaving locations.
Morning Duties
  • Verify case counts and correct overages or shortages.
  • Inspect electric pallet jack.
Service and Sales
  • Load/unload merchandise, stock, and maintain displays.
  • Sell products, maintain POS materials, and meet customer needs.
  • Identify new distribution opportunities and communicate with sales team.
  • Enter sales data accurately into handheld devices.
Code Dates and Product Rotation
  • Understand shelf life, read code dates, and rotate stock properly.
  • Report close-dated products and customer complaints.
Incentive and Company Objectives
  • Participate in incentive programs.
  • Support company objectives and maintain a positive attitude.
Physical Demands
  • Perform tasks involving standing, lifting (10-50 lbs), and operating equipment.
  • Assist with building displays and maintaining safety standards.
Safety of Operations
  • Ensure safe vehicle operation and assist with loading as needed.
