Responsibilities

  • Safely perform all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work over and completion operations.
  • Under Driller supervision, control drilling operations and respond to formations and problems.
  • Change bits, tools, and drill string length as needed.
  • Maintain a continuous log of the well’s history and required paperwork.
  • Assist the Driller in directing and supervising the drill crew.
  • Maintain good housekeeping on the drill floor and equipment maintenance.
  • Implement Noble's safety policies and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings and risk assessments.
  • Identify hazards and participate in Job Safety Analysis; comply with regulations.

Job description

Work under the direction of the Driller as necessary to support on-going rig operations. Operate/Monitor rig equipment and support systems under the direction of the Driller. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Perform general drilling rig operations, maintenance, and house-keeping duties and material preservation activities under the supervision of the Driller. Assist other personnel as directed.**QUALIFICATIONS*** High School Diploma or equivalent.* 1+ years of experience as a Derrickman.* Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.* Strong written and verbal communication skills.* Proficient in applications and systems required for the position.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS****OPERATIONS*** Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work over and completion operations.* Under supervision of the Driller, control actual drilling operations, depending on formations encountered, drilling efficiency, and problems encountered.* Under supervision of the Driller, make trips as necessary to change bits, tools, and drill string length.* Report to Driller any unusual occurrences encountered such as rate of penetration, mud weight, loss of circulation or other changes in hole condition.* Participate in regular shut-in drills with all members of the drill crew. Be able to recognize pressure problems with the hole. Know how to line up choke manifold and stand pipe. Recognize kicks, shut the well in and circulate out.* Responsible for slipping and cutting drill line.* String up and string down the block.* Assist service personnel and coordinate drill crew during operations.* Assist the Driller in directing and supervising the drill crew depending on operations being carried out.* Maintain a continuous log on the well’s history, which includes all equipment used in the well, number of drill pipe joints, special tools used, problems encountered, drilling rate and downtime.* Maintain all paperwork required by Noble as well as government and operator requirements.* Assist in the continuous training and development of subordinate personnel through on-the-job training or other training as deemed necessary by Noble.* Provide leadership and direction for less experienced rig personnel.* Encourages appropriate professional development and training opportunities for employees.**MAINTENANCE & REPAIR*** Maintain good housekeeping on the drill floor at all times.* Maintain upkeep of tongs, rotary, drawworks and other drill floor accessory equipment.* Maintain drill floor inventory control of chains, rope, and other rig supplies.* Assist in supervising the preventative maintenance program to drilling equipment and accessories on the rig floor including shale shakers, mud pumps, elevators, slips and other related equipment. **HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL*** Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.* Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.* Responsible for the drill crew working in a safe manner and with proper safety equipment.* Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.* Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.* Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.* Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.* Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.* Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.* Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.* Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.* Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.* Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.* Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.**SUPERVISORY**Direct: Drill crew as assigned by DrillerIndirect: Rig Personnel during drilling operations
