Job summary

The City of New York seeks experienced Assistant District Attorneys for the Strategic Investigations Bureau (SIB). This unit handles long-term, multi-defendant, conspiracy-driven cases across narcotics, auto crimes, and related offenses, coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active New York State bar in good standing.
• At least 4 years post-J.D. experience.

• Experience handling criminal investigations and prosecutions, including multi-defendant and conspiracy-driven cases.
• Experience in electronic communications interception investigations and prosecutions.
• Substantive experience drafting search warrants, GPS orders, and cell-site orders.
• Felony jury trial experience.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft warrants and orders, and oversee wiretap investigations and a wire team.

Assistant District Attorney Strategic Investigations Bureau

We are seeking experienced Assistant District Attorneys for the Strategic Investigations Bureau ("SIB"). The SIB conducts long-term investigations focusing on multi-defendant, conspiracy-based crimes, targeting criminal networks and illicit revenue streams. It includes the Major Narcotics Unit and the Auto Crimes Unit.

The SIB partners with Federal, State, and Local agencies to investigate crimes and conduct proactive investigations, including:

• Insurance fraud cases
• Stolen car cases from the NYPD or NYSP Auto Crime Division
• Forged vehicle title cases
• Pattern burglary and robbery investigations
• Airport cases involving cargo and organized theft schemes
• Cases involving operating as a major trafficker and seizure of a kilogram or more of controlled substance
• Counterfeit currency cases
• Money laundering cases
• Organized retail theft cases
• Trademark counterfeiting cases
• Extortion and loansharking cases

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Managing a caseload of investigations and prosecutions in the bureau
• Vertical prosecution of cases including grand jury presentations, hearings, trials, negotiating dispositions, sentencing, and other matters
• Working extensively with law enforcement drafting search warrants, GPS orders, cell site orders, and electronic communications interception orders
• Overseeing electronic communications interception (wiretap) investigations, drafting wiretap applications, managing a wire team, following up on daily leads, prosecuting a wire case from grand jury through trial, electronic surveillance analysis
• Providing investigative on-call assistance to NYPD and other law enforcement agencies on a rotating basis

Qualifications:

• J.D. degree and active membership in the New York State bar in good standing
• At least 4 years post-J.D. experience
• All candidates must be admitted to practice law in the State of New York
• Experience handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution, especially complex multi-defendant and conspiracy-driven cases
• Experience in electronic communications interception investigation and prosecution
• Substantive experience drafting legal process including search warrants, GPS orders, and cell site orders
• Felony jury trial experience
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $102,000 to $128,000.
