Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. seeks an Assistant Director of Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) to lead trauma-informed mental health services for students. The role coordinates psychoeducational programs, expands campus outreach, and supervises CAPS staff while promoting student well-being.

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director supports program evaluation, faculty and staff education, and university committees, with occasional evening hours.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling or Psychology, CACREP/APA-accredited preferred.
• Experience in counseling and assessment within an educational setting.
• Credentials as NCC and NC Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Psychologist.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in delivering trauma-informed mental health services to students.
• Coordinate psychoeducational programs and expand campus outreach.
• Supervise CAPS staff and support professional development.
• Engage with campus partners and represent CAPS in committees.
