Job summary

High Point University seeks an Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Governance to advise the SGA and supervise student organizations, ensuring alignment with university policies and the mission of the Office of Student Life.

The role supports the Student Experience team with events, campaigns, and leadership development, requiring strong communication, budgeting, and collaborative skills in a fast-paced campus setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Knowledge of HPU culture and university guidelines.
• 2–3 years of leadership experience preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in student leadership.
• General understanding of guidelines for student organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Budget oversight experience.
• Experience supervising students.

Responsibilities

• Train, mentor, and oversee student leaders within SGA.
• Maintain awareness of university dates, deadlines, and events.
• Ensure compliance with Student Guide to Campus Life and governing documents.
• Oversee marketing materials and event plans for SGA initiatives.
• Advise and assist student organizations in planning events.
• Oversee SGA financial operations and budgeting processes.
• Guide off-campus travel and coordination with campus partners.
• Design and deliver advisor training and communications.
• Maintain SGA websites and student organization platforms.
• Provide training on AirTable and related tools.
• Contribute to the Monthly Student Events Calendar.
• Attend weekly calendar meetings on behalf of SGA/Student Experience.
• Chaperone major SGA events and retreats.
• Assist with misconduct investigations as needed.
• Lead large campus programs like Involvement Fairs and LDOC Festival.
• Supervise graduate and undergraduate student employees.
