Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Optometry is seeking an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-STUDENT AFFAIRS to support the Student Affairs Director. The role oversees admissions, registration, records, recruitment, student life, success and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Four (4) years of related experience required; work experience may not substitute education.

Responsibilities

• Manages admissions office and registrar functions with the Director.
• Determine missing admissions requirements for admitted students.
• Manage student transcripts and monitor academic achievement and progression.
• Travel to undergraduate schools to recruit and present to pre-optometry groups.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid to provide aid information to applicants and students.
• Develop/manage the department budget and review expenditures within limits.
• Review staff timekeeping and travel reimbursements.
• Ensure ASCO surveys are completed and submitted on time.
• Identify trends in the student applicant pool.
