Job summary

East Texas A&M University seeks an Assistant Director of Communications and Media Relations to lead planning and day-to-day operations for the university’s communications function in support of institutional priorities.

The role oversees media relations, editorial planning, internal communications and e‑communications, collaborating with multiple campus partners to deliver coordinated storytelling across channels. Bachelor’s degree and seven years’ experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, marketing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience in communications, journalism, media relations, editorial operations or related field.
• Experience supervising professional staff or providing team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Leads planning, management and day-to-day operations of university communications.
• Develops and implements communications plans, editorial calendars and workflows.
• Oversees media relations, university news and owned media, internal communications and e‑communications.
• Collaborates with Web, Content, Creative, Design, Social Media, Brand, Marketing and Analytics teams.
• Supervises staff in media relations, editorial and storytelling, internal communications and e‑communications.
