Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators seeks an assistant director of special education to support the Director of Student Services in delivering services to students, staff and families.

The role requires coordinating SST/IEP activities, guiding staff, and overseeing program development, budget and compliance with IDEA/ADA. Contract is 10.5 months with a base salary of $90,000 plus stipends.

Qualifications

• Effective communication with staff and parents on IEP and related procedures.
• Illinois SPECIAL education endorsement required.
• Type 75 Certificate or equivalent credential.
• Experience teaching in special education programs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to implement services for students, staff, and families.
• Participate in SST/PLC meetings; provide leadership and guidance within teams.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and curricula for Special Services.
• Monitor and support district referrals, IEP processes, and compliance with laws.
• Coordinate transportation, budgets, and professional development for special education staff.
• Ensure rights of parental and student evaluations and promote state standards.
