Job summary

Texas Christian University seeks an Assistant Director of Residence Life to lead a comprehensive on-campus program focused on authentic relationships and inclusive communities. You will oversee Hall Directors, coordinate staff development, and ensure a high-quality residential experience for students.

The role requires on-call coverage, evening/weekend hours, and collaboration across the Residential Life team and Division of Student Affairs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Educational Leadership or related field.
• 2 years of related experience in a training or development environment with supervisory experience.
• 2 years of professional experience in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Implements the Knowing, Connecting, Empowering model to build relationships and community in residence halls.
• Provides leadership and management for an assigned residential area and supervises Hall Directors.
• Guides Hall Directors in decision-making and aligns with department priorities and university policies.
• Encourages programming that fosters awareness of personal, academic, wellbeing, civic engagement, diversity and equity.
• Maintains high availability and builds relationships with residents and staff in residence halls.
• Supports Hall Directors in the student conduct process and records in Maxient.
• Acts as escalation point for complex student concerns and crises.
• Monitors student issues and maintains contact with parents as appropriate.
• Serves as liaison between Residence Halls and Residential Life team; attends staff meetings.
• Participates in on-call rotation and responds to incidents on campus with departmental teams.
• Maintains incident reports in Maxient and communicates with senior leadership during crises.
• Executes department objectives with external departments and participates in training of new hall directors.
• Supports development of department events and programs; represents assigned halls and staff.
• Leads day-of operations for Summer Camps, Conferences, and move-in/move-out days.
• Leads training sessions for incoming and existing Residence Hall staff; assists with recruitment of professional staff.
• Supports University initiatives such as Frogs First, Orientation, Experience TCU, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
