Job summary

University of Iowa seeks an Assistant Director of Community Development to lead the REM residential curriculum and student learning initiatives across campus housing.

The role supervises hall coordinators and staff, oversees training, and supports on-call duties. Collaboration with Title IX, Academic Support, and other stakeholders is essential to advance student learning and well-being.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Three or more years of full-time housing administration or related program management in a college/university setting.
• One to three years of supervisory experience, including staff coaching and HR oversight.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience serving in an on-call duty rotation at the collegiate level.
• Ability to build teams and partnerships with campus stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication across diverse populations.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and assess the REM residential curriculum annually.
• Develop and execute staff training schedules (summer, winter, ongoing).
• Provide supervision for hall coordinators, graduate assistants, and student staff.
• Coordinate academic partnerships and student success initiatives.
• Oversee curriculum tracking and attendance software (e.g., Swipe).
• Develop assessment plans for REM outcomes with leadership.
• Collaborate with campus partners to deliver educational resources.
• Contribute to Residence Education leadership and committees.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support student and campus needs.
