The Assistant Director, Recognition, Donor Experience & Engagement works collaboratively as a member of the Donor Experience & Engagement team and Division of Philanthropy to assist the entire Division in reaching financial goals. The Assistant Director is an innovative collaborator who drives recognition programs and initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders across the Division. Reports to the Associate Director, Recognition, Donor Experience & Engagement.

The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process that will entail the completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA, each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

  • Manage Recognition initiatives and projects such as:
    • Creating and implementing innovative programs and new concepts for donor recognition;
    • Developing donor recognition systems through the creation and maintenance of program management tools;
    • Crafting individualized recognition plans in collaboration with major gift officers;
    • Preparing innovative, custom recognition gifts for donors including one-of-a-kind memorabilia, in collaboration with major gift officers;
    • Creating and maintaining donor recognition displays.
  • Responsible for building strong relationships with teams to provide proactive, streamlined recognition initiatives and deliverables.
  • Responsible for project time tracking in QuickBase system.
  • Responsible for assisting the entire department in reaching annual financial goals.
  • Assume other duties as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Will supervise one Officer.
  • Bachelor’s degree required plus 4+ years of relevant work experience. Philanthropy experience preferred including working directly with donors and volunteers.

  • Project management experience, including data management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong communication and human relations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective in working with wide audiences (including highest level of Dana-Farber constituencies).

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA, each week. Some evening and weekend work required. Local travel may be required.
