Position Overview:

Southwestern University has an immediate opening for an Assistant Director of Transfer Admission. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Admission. The Assistant Director of Transfer Admission is responsible for recruiting qualified transfer students who fit the mission and purpose of the university. This is a full-time exempt position eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.

  • Implements a transfer recruitment plan to support annual enrollment objectives.
  • Attends area community college and military transfer fairs, student organization meetings, Phi Theta Kappa regional or national conferences, etc.
  • Coordinate activities that support recruitment effort, such as school presentations, on-campus transfer programming, etc.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with established articulation agreement partners.
  • Correspond with prospective transfer students and parents via email, phone or text.
  • Conduct information sessions, personal interviews and unofficial transcript reviews.
  • Review and evaluate applications for admission and scholarship.
  • Review applications for readmission
  • Coordinate admission communication campaigns and web updates to educate transfer students on the benefits of Southwestern and a liberal arts education.
  • Manage partnerships across campus with offices that relate to transfer admission work (registrar, financial aid, housing)

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in professional organizations (state and national).
  • Serve on select university committees.
  • Oversee work-study student(s).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an undergraduate admission office, preferable at another national liberal arts college.
  • Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to present confidently to diverse audiences and interact professionally with internal and external constituents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and maintain professionalism in all situations.
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible leadership experience including some supervisory of staff.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • A collaborative team player who contributes positively to group dynamics and department goals.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Availability to maintain a consistent work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and peak travel seasons as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel using commercial and/or personal transportation.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer skills like Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual fluency (verbal and written) in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with Slate CRM system.
  • Extensive knowledge of the University and programs offered.
  • Event planning in a professional capacity.
  • Knowledge of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Knowledge of transfer admission experience.

Starting annual salary:$45,338. The final offer for the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience and may exceed the starting salary.
