Job Summary

The Assistant Director is part of the Center for Student Engagement, Activities, and Leadership team. Reporting to the Associate Director, this role involves working with campus and community stakeholders to promote community engagement, civic responsibility, and leadership development. Responsibilities include supervising undergraduate student employees, participating in professional development, and representing the center on campus committees.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead coordination of the Ambassador program and other leadership and community engagement initiatives.
  2. Develop and deliver leadership workshops and retreats to enhance student leadership skills.
  3. Facilitate participation in CliftonStrengths efforts and teach related courses periodically.
  4. Support first-year leadership development programs and manage engagement platforms.
  5. Assist with civic engagement activities, including voter registration and education.
  6. Supervise undergraduate student employees.
  7. Organize community development activities and service workshops.
  8. Manage social media and website updates for the center.
  9. Participate in campus committees aligned with the center’s mission.
  10. Coordinate large-scale events with campus and external partners.
  11. Work evenings and weekends as needed for program facilitation.
  12. Foster a community of belonging for all students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience in higher education, student affairs, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Leadership/Management, College Student Personnel, or related fields.
  • Additional experience in student affairs, program planning, or certifications like CliftonStrengths.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of leadership and community engagement theories.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise students.
  • Familiarity with assessment practices and social media management.
