Position Description

The Assistant Director of Nursing supports and manages Nursing Services for residents, ensuring care aligns with physicians' orders and residents' needs. In partnership with the Director of Nursing, this role supervises Nursing Services 24/7 and directs the Nursing Department to uphold quality standards according to Federal, State, and Company regulations. In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant assumes clinical operational responsibilities. The role involves conducting the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—within the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act for Registered Nurses.

  • Coordinate comprehensive care plans for residents, complying with physicians' directives, regulations, and facility policies.
  • Communicate policies and monitor staff practices and adherence.
  • Participate in admission decisions and visit prospective residents as needed.
  • Attend management meetings to discuss resident status, census, staffing, and concerns.
  • Ensure delivery of compassionate, quality care evidenced by adequate staffing, cleanliness, odor control, pressure wound prevention, and maintenance of resident functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may change without notice.
Qualifications
  • Current RN or LPN license in the practicing state.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • At least 2 years of nursing supervisory experience; 5 years in long-term or acute care preferred.
