Job summary

Sun Harbor in Port Charlotte, FL, is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team. You will support the Director of Nursing, oversee nursing services, and promote high-quality resident care with a focus on education and infection prevention.

You will mentor RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, ensure regulatory compliance, and participate in QAPI initiatives, surveys, and policy development. This role requires strong leadership and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Active Florida RN license in good standing.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
• Leadership experience preferred, with staff education and infection prevention exposure.
• Knowledge of long-term care regulations and survey requirements.
• Infection control certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing with supervision of nursing services.
• Oversee daily clinical operations to ensure safe, effective resident care.
• Lead RNs, LPNs, and CNAs through mentorship.
• Conduct rounds and monitor resident needs and changes.
• Review care plans and nursing documentation for compliance.
• Support staffing, scheduling and coverage for appropriate staffing levels.
• Develop staff education, in-service training, orientation, and competency programs.
• Identify staff learning needs and coordinate ongoing training.
• Support infection prevention activities and surveillance.
• Participate in survey readiness and corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to improve resident outcomes.
