Job Description:

An assistant director of nursing (ADON) is responsible for the nursing team and quality of patient service in the absence of the director of nursing. The ADON supervises, analyzes, delegates, and evaluates nursing activities to ensure patient comfort and care. A staff development coordinator must have strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of the company’s needs, helping to select relevant and effective training programs. They must be excellent communicators, with the ability to learn new skills quickly and teach them to others.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping to hire, train, teach, and monitor nurses
  • Managing clinical operations and developing care plans
  • Assisting in budget preparation and expense management
  • Conducting patient rounds and addressing complaints
  • Training and educating staff

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent supervisory experience in a nursing care facility
  • Infection Preventionist certification preferred
  • Assist in organizing, developing, and directing the overall operations of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility
