Job summary

AA Healthcare Management in West Allis, WI seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to assist in planning, organizing and directing the Nursing Department while ensuring quality care aligned with standards and regulations. The role reports to the Director of Nursing, Administrator and Medical Director, guiding daily operations and performance improvement efforts.

The ADON will lead program development, supervise staff, participate in admissions and discharge planning, and ensure compliance

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current and active RN license in Wisconsin.
  • Previous nurse supervisor experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and implementation of the Nursing Program.
  • Consult with the interdisciplinary team to develop and maintain restorative care standards.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and national restorative standards.
  • Participate in the admission process by reviewing the restorative program with new Guests.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and care plan development and assessments.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as charting and reporting.
  • Assist with recruitment and supervision of nursing staff.
  • Provide supervision to CNAs and subordinate staff and review their work.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for staff.
  • Guide and educate staff on performance.
  • Counsel and discipline subordinates as needed.
  • Participate in disciplinary processes as required.
  • Perform nursing care assignments on the floor as needed.
  • Maintain scope of licensure in procedures.
  • Ensure care plans are followed and assess Guests status.
  • Round with physicians as needed.
  • Know care plans well and report observations.
  • Maintain infection control and safety practices.
  • Maintain Guest comfort, privacy and dignity in a warm, respectful environment.
  • Answer call lights promptly and courteously.
  • Attend departmental meetings and in-services.
  • Be knowledgeable in data collection and performance improvement methods.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through data analysis and operations insights.

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position is to assist in the planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of our Nursing Department, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists in development and implementation of the Nursing Program.

  • Meets and consults with the facility’s interdisciplinary team on a regular basis to develop and maintain restorative care standards.

  • Ensures the nursing program complies with applicable laws, regulations, and national restorative nursing standards and requirements.

  • Participates in the admission process by meeting with new Guests and providing them with a clear overview of the restorative program.

  • Participates in discharge planning, development and implementation of Guest care plans and assessments.

  • Performs administrative tasks such as charting, care plans, reports etc.

  • Assists with the recruitment and selection of nursing staff.

  • Provides supervision to C.N.A’s and all subordinate staff which includes checking their work to ascertain that assignments have been completed.

  • Completes annual performance reviews of all subordinate staff.

  • Provides guidance and education to staff in regards to their performance.

  • Provides counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed.

  • Assists with and participates in the disciplinary process of subordinates.

  • Performs nursing care assignments by working the floor when needed.

  • Only practices nursing procedures and tasks with the scope of licensure.

  • Ensure that Guest care plans are being followed and asses each Guest’s status in accordance with their care plan.

  • Round with physicians when needed.

  • Must be knowledgeable of individual care plans and support the care planning process by reporting specific information and observations of the Guest’s needs, preferences and report any behavioral changes.

  • Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained when providing care. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.

  • Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Guests. Interacting with them in a warm, respectful and caring environment.

  • Answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously.

  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services.

  • Be knowledgeable in data collection, data analysis methodology, and performance improvement methods needed to support and lead performance improvement projects.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement through analysis of data, observation of operations, and consultation with leadership and staff.
