Job Duties
- Meet with all new nursing service personnel to disseminate their duties and responsibilities.
- Act as a resource to nursing staff and implement educational programs.
- Ensure high-quality care through peer review, interdisciplinary program evaluation, risk management, nursing quality improvement, and discharge planning.
- Serve as the Director of Nursing in their absence.
- Evaluate educational activities and maintain current documentation of staff participation annually.
- Oversee physicians and care planning processes, ensuring all physicians’ orders are executed.
- Make rounds on all units daily to evaluate resident care and environmental compliance with state regulations.
- Coordinate nursing services with other departments.
- Maintain accurate reporting and recording according to policies, and evaluate and recommend improvements for resident welfare.
- Ensure supplies are available in proper quantities and that personnel know their location and proper care of equipment.
- Receive reports from Nurse Managers or charge nurses and work closely with them to maximize care quality.
- Ensure accurate recording of medications and narcotics according to facility procedures.
- Participate in nursing care as needed and handle emergencies directly.
- Review lab work, charts, pharmacy profiles, and incident reports regularly.
- Supervise nursing activities and promote care improvement.
- Assist with scheduling, staffing, recruitment, and retention.
- Oversee IDCP meetings, and ensure timely electronic transmission of all MDS, Re-entry, and Discharge forms.
- Manage Fall Reduction and Wound Care Programs, and oversee specialized ventilator/trach units.
- Oversee Program Improvement, Case Mix Index, and MDS processes.
- Conduct weekly wound rounds and oversee restraint and psychotropic reduction initiatives.
- Report findings to the D.O.N. or designee and/or the Administrator.
- Maintain professional expertise through conferences, seminars, and literature review.
- Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating respect, flexibility, professionalism, and patience.
- Maintain departmental policies, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards; identify gaps and develop policies as needed.
- Understand and adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Position Qualifications
- NJ RN license required.
- AHA BLS certification required.
- IV Certification preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of management experience preferred.
- Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English required.

Licenses & Certifications
Required: BLS, RN license. Preferred: IV Therapy certification.
