Job summary

Primrose Retirement Communities in Mishawaka, Indiana, is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the DON in delivering high-quality resident care and administrative leadership.

This role focuses on staff supervision, care plan adherence, medication management, and regulatory compliance across the nursing department. Strong organizational and communication skills, plus LTC experience, are essential. CPR/First Aid and ongoing education are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current, active nursing license in the state the community is located.
• CPR and First Aid Certification required per state regulations.
• Meet annual continuing education hours for nursing license, if applicable.
• Knowledge of current state nursing laws and regulations in assisted living.
• Strong organizational, time-management and priority skills.
• Demonstrates leadership in team-building and conflict resolution.
• Experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's and memory impairments preferred.
• Basic computer skills; working knowledge of Outlook and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing to ensure compassionate quality care and adequate staff coverage.
• Provide oversight of care implementation by direct care staff and adherence to care plans.
• Oversee medication management, storage, and timely execution of physicians’ orders.
• Participate in quality improvement processes and engage with the Quality Committee.
• Contribute to evaluating causes of care-related problems and implementing improvements.

Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to be responsible for providing administrative and support services to the nursing department to ensure the efficient delivery of nursing and direct care services. With direction from the Director of Nursing (DON), the Assistant Director of Nursing provides exceptional resident care and leadership through adherence to resident service plans, physicians’ orders, community policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.

More about the position:

• Assists the Director of Nursing to ensure delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage in the community.
• Provides oversight of care implementation by direct care staff and recognition of deviation from the service plan.
• Provides medication management, including oversight of medication storage and administration and carries out physicians’ orders in a timely manner.
• Participates actively in the Primrose community’s quality improvement process, including regular engagement with the Quality Committee.
• Participates in ongoing community efforts to improve the overall quality of nursing care, including efforts to evaluate and address the causes of various care-related problems and deficiencies.

What we’re looking for:

• Must hold a current, active, and non-restricted nursing license in the state the community is located in.
• Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification per state regulations.
• Meet annual continuing education hours required for nursing license, if applicable.
• Knowledge of current state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing in an assisted living setting.
• Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
• Demonstrates leadership skills in principles of team building, motivating others, and conflict management/resolution.
• Experience in long term care or assisted living environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease, other dementias and related memory impairments is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of computer software and programs, minimum working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.
• Able to work varying shifts and on call time, including scheduled floor nurse shifts to meet the needs of the community.
