Job summary

Highland Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Massachusetts is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing. The role supports the Director of Nursing, overseeing clinical operations and staff development in a 188-bed sub-acute and long-term care facility.

The position requires an RN license in MA, 3+ years of nursing leadership and experience in rehabilitative care. It includes a Monday–Friday days schedule with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid, unencumbered RN license in Massachusetts; nursing degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital or long-term care setting.
• Supervisory experience with leadership and staff development required.
• Experience in rehabilitative/restorative nursing strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills with professional interaction with staff, residents, families, and regulators.
• Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and applicable laws governing nursing facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing in planning nursing operations and coordinating priorities.
• Serve as care champion for the dialysis den and ensure high clinical standards.
• Monitor nursing units, evaluate performance, and coach staff as needed.
• Develop professional relationships with residents, families, staff, and the medical team.
• Conduct rounds to monitor care delivery, environment, and staff morale.
• Oversee administrative functions related to Nursing Services for compliant operations.

Range: $120,000.00 - $155,000.00 annually

Responsibilities for Assistant Director of Nursing:

• Assist the Director of Nursing in collaborating with the Administrator, management staff, and consultants to plan all aspects of nursing operations, including setting priorities, coordinating initiatives, and assigning responsibilities to support optimal resident care.
• Serve as the care champion for our 5-chair dialysis den, ensuring a high standard of clinical excellence, coordination, and compassionate care for residents receiving services.
• Monitor each nursing unit’s activities, communicate policies effectively, evaluate performance, provide constructive feedback, and assist with coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary processes as needed.
• Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, family members, staff, and members of the interdisciplinary medical team.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor the delivery of nursing care, coordination with support services, cleanliness and presentation of resident areas, and staff morale, while proactively ensuring residents’ needs are met.
• Carry out, coordinate, and oversee administrative functions related to Nursing Services to support efficient and compliant operations.

Qualifications for Assistant Director of Nursing:

• Must possess a valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts. A nursing degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital, nursing care center, or related healthcare setting.
• Supervisory experience with knowledge of leadership principles, staff development, and teaching practices required.
• Experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
• Strong team orientation with the ability to lead by example and contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
• Knowledge of nursing practices, medical procedures, and applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing care facilities.
