Job summary

Survival Flight is seeking an experienced aviation maintenance leader to join our team as Assistant Director of Maintenance in Batesville, AR. You will support the Director of Maintenance and oversee maintenance operations for rotor-wing and fixed-wing EMS aircraft, ensuring safety, airworthiness, and readiness across locations.

You will lead, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel, coordinate with Flight Operations and Dispatch, and drive regulatory compliance, budgets, and inspections.

Qualifications

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5-7 years of progressive rotor-wing aircraft maintenance experience.
• 3-5 years of maintenance leadership or management experience.
• Experience with managing teams, multiple aircraft or locations.
• Strong knowledge of FAA Part 135, FARs, OEM requirements, and helicopter maintenance best practices.
• Experience with Bell 206L4 helicopters.
• Willingness to travel; able to work after hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Participate in SMS activities, investigations, audits, and inspections.

• Serve as primary maintenance contact for FAA inquiries, audits, and inspections.

Assistant Director of Maintenance

Position Overview

Survival Flight is seeking an experienced aviation maintenance leader to join our team as Assistant Director of Maintenance.

• Support the Director of Maintenance with the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.

• Help oversee maintenance operations for our helicopter EMS fleet and fixed-wing aircraft.

• Ensure aircraft remain safe, airworthy, compliant, and operationally ready.

• Work closely with Flight Operations, Dispatch, Safety, and other departments to minimize downtime and support safe air medical operations.

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to maintenance personnel across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance activities.

• Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company maintenance manuals, CAMTS, OSHA, and applicable standards.

• Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance technicians, leads, and inspectors.

• Coordinate maintenance scheduling and aircraft availability with Flight Operations and Dispatch.

• Manage maintenance documentation, vendors, parts procurement, tooling, facilities, and outside MRO providers.

• Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) activities, investigations, audits, and regulatory inspections.

• Assist with maintenance budgets, cost control, reporting, and capital improvement planning.

• Serve as a primary maintenance contact for FAA inquiries, audits, and inspections.

Required Qualifications

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 5-7 years of progressive rotor-wing aircraft maintenance experience.

• 3-5 years of maintenance leadership or management experience.

• Experience managing maintenance teams, multiple aircraft, and/or multiple locations.

• Strong knowledge of FAA Part 135, Federal Aviation Regulations, OEM requirements, and helicopter maintenance best practices.

• Experience with Bell 206L4 helicopters.

• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to travel between company locations as needed.

• Ability to remain available after hours when operationally required.

Preferred Qualifications

• FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).

• Previous helicopter EMS maintenance experience.

• Three or more years of experience working within an EMS helicopter program.

Work Environment

• Position is performed primarily in aircraft maintenance and shop environments.

• May require travel, nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.

• Must be able to move materials weighing up to 80 pounds without assistance.

• Must remain eligible to perform duties in an FAA safety-sensitive position.
