Assistant Director of Institutional Giving

Job Overview

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan has an exciting position for a fundraising professional with experience in institutional partnership and grant writing. The Assistant Director of Institutional Giving (ADIG) will report to the Director of Development Operations and serve as a key member of the development team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of grant writing experience, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, eagerness for a challenge, and the ability to collaborate across the organization to renew funding and secure new partners. The team manages over $4 million in annual revenue and values collaboration and growth mindset.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Grant Writing: Write LOIs, proposals, and reports for grants from foundations, government agencies, and corporate supporters. Collaborate with program Center Directors on budgets, proposals, and reports. Partner with Marketing to gather outreach materials. Coordinate with Finance for proper submission and reporting.
  • Evaluation: Promote evaluation practices across the organization, including developing surveys and evaluation skills, and working with staff to include necessary participation and performance data for grant reporting.
  • Grants Management: Establish and maintain relationships with grant administrators, track deadlines, maintain archives of grant documents, and coordinate with Finance on award statuses and budgets. Provide grant revenue data for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Prospecting: Work with Center Directors to identify funding priorities, scan for upcoming opportunities, and produce profiles of grantmakers to assist in funding requests.
  • General Fundraising Support: Prepare materials for meetings, attend donor and prospect meetings, and assist with staffing at fundraising events.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess superior writing and editing skills, excellent project management and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRMs, and online proposal platforms is required. The candidate should have 3-5 years of grant writing experience in the nonprofit sector or 5+ years as a grants manager, and demonstrate a commitment to the mission and culture of the JCC.
