Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellbeing

The Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellbeing will provide leadership, vision, and supervision for comprehensive fitness and nutrition programs for students, faculty, and staff of East Texas A&M, and members of Campus Recreation. This position provides significant teaching and training of students and oversees the administration of group fitness, personal training, and other fitness and wellbeing programs, as well as supports a Senior Registered Dietitian. The position reports to the Senior Associate Director of Programs and collaborates closely with all other Campus Rec professional staff and campus partners. This position plays an integral role in Campus Rec’s strategic plan and student success.

A nnual Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 Coordinator of Fitness

The Coordinator of Fitness will provide leadership, vision, and supervision for a comprehensive fitness program for students, faculty, and staff of East Texas A&M, and members of Campus Recreation. This position provides substantial teaching and training of students and oversees the administration of group fitness, personal training, and other fitness and wellbeing programs. The position reports to the Senior Associate Director of Programs and collaborates closely with all other Campus Rec professional staff and campus partners. This position also plays an integral role in Campus Rec’s strategic plan and student success.

Annual Salary Range: $43,888 - $46,888

Position Description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the Group Fitness and Personal Training programs to maintain a campus-wide investment in fitness and wellbeing
  • Plan, implement, facilitate, promote, and evaluate fitness events, awareness weeks, fitness competitions, and educational workshops that meet the changing needs of various special populations, non-traditional students, residential students, faculty/staff, and community members
  • Support the Nutrition program to maintain a campus-wide investment in healthy eating behaviors. (Assistant Director role only)
  • Recruit (Handshake), hire, train, schedule (SubItUp), develop, supervise, process payroll for (Workday), and evaluate group fitness instructors, personal trainers, and support staff
  • Oversee the inventory, selection, layout, replacement, and maintenance of all free weight, cardio, selectorized, fitness, and program equipment
  • Utilize Fusion for group fitness, events, and personal training registrations
  • Project and fiscally maintain budgets related to program areas
  • Assist with facility reservations related to fitness programs
  • Coordinate certifications and continuing education credit opportunities, including teaching and/or facilitating certification courses for group fitness and personal training staff.
  • Develop, communicate, enforce, and regularly review and revise program policies, risk management policies, procedures and protocols, including employee and participant policies, handbooks, and training manuals.
  • Assist the marketing program with actively marketing and promoting fitness and Campus Recreation programs
  • Maintain effective communication with program participants and staff.
  • Teach multiple group exercise formats and deliver personal training services as needed
  • Assist in the development, enhancement, and implementation of long-term and short-term goals
  • Assess program effectiveness using data that includes financial reports, participation numbers, participant satisfaction, and departmental reports.
  • Instruct American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA courses. (must obtain within the first 6 months of employment and maintain)
  • Serve on the Campus Wellness Committee

    • Current Group Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer Certification recognized by NCCA (ACSM, NSCA, ISSA, ACE, AFAA, NASM, NCCPT or other meeting same criteria) and ability to obtain the other certification you don’t have within 90 days of employment. Must maintain current and future certifications.
    • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Physical Requirements: Move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
