WolfCreek Consulting is recruiting on behalf of the City of Deerfield Beach for an Assistant Director of Financial Services, a senior public finance leadership role. You will oversee the Accounting and Treasury Division, supervise staff, lead the annual audit and ACFR, guide budgeting, debt management, investments, and ensure GASB and GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• 4+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Public sector or municipal finance experience strongly preferred.
• CPA, CPFO, CGFO, or CGFM certification preferred.
• Experience with budgeting, treasury, audits, financial reporting, and governmental accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Accounting and Treasury Division, including AP, utility billing, business tax receipts, and fire inspection billing.
• Lead the City's annual external audit and ACFR; assist with debt management, investments, budget development, and long-range financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with GASB, GAAP, and internal control standards.
• Develop and improve financial systems, policies, and procedures; supervise and mentor staff.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced finance leader with a background in government accounting, treasury management, financial reporting, and team leadership who is looking to make a meaningful impact within a growing South Florida municipality.

What You'll Do

As the Assistant Director of Financial Services, you'll serve as the second-in-command to the Chief Financial Officer and oversee the daily operations of the Accounting and Treasury Division, including:

• Accounts Payable
• Utility Billing
• Business Tax Receipts
• Fire Inspection Billing

you'll also:

• Lead the City's annual external audit and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
• Assist with debt management, investments, budget development, and long-range financial planning
• Ensure compliance with GASB, GAAP, and internal control standards
• Develop and improve financial systems, policies, and procedures
• Supervise and mentor finance staff while serving as the department leader in the CFO's absence.
