The Assistant Director of Disability Services & Student Support serves as a key leader within the Division of Student Affairs and supports the mission of creating an accessible and student-centered learning environment where students have opportunities to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Reporting to the Director of Disability Services, the Assistant Director provides leadership in the administration of disability accommodations, student case management, behavioral support, accommodated testing, ADA compliance, and coordinated student care initiatives. The position serves as a primary resource for students with disabilities while collaborating closely with the Dean of Students Office, Care Center, Housing & Residence Life, Counseling Services, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Enrollment Management, Student Conduct, and community partners to address barriers to student success.
The Assistant Director manages complex student situations requiring assessment, intervention, advocacy, and coordinated care while ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), University System of Georgia (USG) policies, and institutional procedures.
The Assistant Director also assists with strategic planning, departmental assessment, policy development, ADA Title II implementation, digital accessibility initiatives, outreach programming, crisis response, and university-wide student success efforts.
