Job Description:

The Assistant Director ofCommunity and Digital Communications forthe New York State Master Teacher Program is a mid-management position that reports to the Executive Director of the New York State Master Teacher Program (NYSMTP).

Working closely with the Executive Director and the Central Office staff, the Assistant Director of Community and Digital Communications is an integral member of the program office staff who focuses on both internal and external program information to communicate the impact of program participation by Master Teachers, and Master Counselors on professional practice, and the vital role of SUNY campuses in the implementation of the program in their economic development region.

The Assistant Director of Community and Digital Communications will work within the program communications structure to conduct regular analysis and synthesis of data to identify key information to share with program participants, SUNY counterparts, and external stakeholders to promote the NYSMTP and related SUNY activities to advance the mission and vision of the NYSMTP. This strategic work is directly informed by and related to the statewide program goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the analysis and synthesis of NYSMTP data to widely communicate the impact of participation in the NYSMTP on individual Master Teacher and Master Counselor practice and of the collective participation on the education community.
  • Collaborate with members of the program office to maintain the MTP social media platforms .
  • Contribute to the regular review and revision of the internal and external communications plan to recognize and celebrate the activities of the statewide network members and the SUNY campuses.
  • Cooperate with members of the program office to review resources and related public documents about the professional learning opportunities open to all NYS educators via regional and statewide programing.
  • Strategize with the Executive Director future phases to expand the professional network of the NYSMTP to include peer organizations at state and national levels.
  • Support central office operations as needed regarding regional operations and selection process.
  • Visit campuses on an as-needed basis.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Three years of professional experience in higher education or non-profit environments
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills (writing and presenting) with experience in a leadership or administration role
  • Active appreciation for strategic collaboration within a small team
  • Highly skilled in driving to results through planning and execution, critical thinking, and problem-solving
  • Strong work ethic and creativity that translates into enthusiasm for the successful accomplishment of program goals
  • Ability to travel on a scheduled basis in support of duties & responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training and/or experience with a range of digital/print/online social media platforms
  • Strong understanding and appreciation for K-12 education and higher education
  • Fluidity with Microsoft Suite products including Word, Excel, Access database, Outlook, and Google tools


Additional Information:

  • Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications.The range for thisposition is $70,000-$83,000 annually.
  • State Title: Assistant Director(Grade MP4) and is a Management Confidential position.
