To further strengthen our communications strategy, we are excited to introduce a new role to our team. The Assistant Director of Communications will be instrumental in shaping and delivering the school’s messaging across multiple platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and meaningful engagement. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic communicator to craft compelling narratives, elevate the CDS experience, and expand our reach in meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Seek out school stories and craft narratives that highlight programs, achievements, and community impact.
  2. Manage publication content strategy, creation, and timelines.
  3. Assist in the creation of print and digital marketing materials.
  4. Oversee the administration and integrity of the school’s public-facing website to ensure brand consistency, relevancy, timeliness, and content accuracy; perform updates as needed.
  5. Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to implement communication strategies that align with the school’s mission and goals.
  6. Prepare news releases and serve as point person for media relations under the Director of Marketing & Communications.
  7. Ensure brand consistency across all messaging and platforms.
  8. Post emergency communications (i.e. school closing/delay) via email, SMS messages, social media, phone, and website.
  9. Assist as backup in crisis communication planning and execution as needed.
  10. Analyze communication effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably in an educational setting.
  3. Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  4. Experience with website content management systems, email marketing, and social media platforms.
  5. A collaborative, trust-based work style.
  6. Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  7. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and independently.
