Position Summary

The LVN or RN Assistant DON, under the direction of the Director of Nursing, supervises nursing services and sets standards of care to ensure residents receive comprehensive, personalized care that addresses their medical, physical, emotional, and psychological needs. The role involves ensuring quality nursing care aligns with policies, objectives, and standards set by the facility and administrator.

Qualifications

• Current RN or LVN license
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Effective communication skills with residents and team members
• Capability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
• Current CPR certification

Essential Functions

• Ensure resident safety
• Review new admissions for accuracy and completeness
• Conduct daily rounds on residents
• Coach and mentor licensed nurses
• Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests
• Safely lift, move, and transfer residents, including those unable to bear weight
• Utilize equipment safely and report any issues
• Participate in emergency drills and training, assisting in evacuations as needed
• Maintain regular attendance
• Adhere to workplace behavior and dress code standards
• Complete training and attend scheduled classes
• Communicate tactfully in sensitive situations
• Promote positive relations with residents, families, and visitors
• Use electronic medical records (Point Click Care) for charting
• Assist in staffing schedule preparation and posting

Other Duties

• Support staffing and physician support activities
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and reaching, with or without accommodations.

Work Schedule

As assigned, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays. Non-exempt position.
