Description

Notre Dame Preparatory School, a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls for grades 6 - 12 located in Towson, Maryland is seeking candidates for a full-time Assistant Director of Athletics. This position is 12-months.

The responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Athletics are important for development, implementation, maintenance, and supervision of a broad range of athletic and recreational opportunities, including varsity athletics, junior varsity athletics and Middle Level athletics. Will directly supervise all Middle Level Notre Dame Preparatory coaches and summer sports camp programs.

The Assistant Director of Athletics works closely with the Director, and assists as the liaison for the Booster Club, Athletics Advisory Board, and may interact and attend Facilities, Advancement, and Admissions Department activities, when appropriate.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with Interscholastic Athletic Association ofMaryland (IAAM) rules, regulations, guidelines, and policies and may represent NDP at IAAM meetings.
  • Hire, supervise, and formally evaluate Middle Level coaches and assure their commitment to the school’s academic mission. Oversee the hiring and dismissal of all Middle Level coaches.
  • Assist the Athletic Director, staff, and coaches to develop annual goals and objectives for the department, coaches, and staff, including revenue goals, along with establishing and managing quarterly benchmarks for evaluation of Middle Level staff and coaches.
  • Act as the liaison for Middle Level parents regarding team and coaching issues, and act as a final arbitrator in all Middle Level parent/coach issues.
  • Collect and maintain, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, all athletic records, including team records, individual records, letters, and awards.
  • Organize and promote community service with athletic teams.
  • Deliver athletic and recreational opportunities to students with varying interests and skills and age levels; promote student development, high academic achievement, and full participation in all aspects of Notre Dame life.
  • Procure, distribute and collect uniforms and equipment.
  • Maintain athletic facility calendar. Coordinate athletic calendar with school’s internal calendar.

GAME AND PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

  • Assist with operation, maintenance, and scheduling of all athletic fields and facilities in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Facilities Manager. Assist with rental of athletic fields and facilities.
  • Assist with interscholastic schedules for all sports and coordinate transportation for athletic events. Explore the development of a club sports program and oversee the delivery of an intramural program.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise programs for revenue-producing off-season use of facilities; Coordinate school athletic camps and outside tournaments.
  • Work closely with the school’s communications department to promote the activities of the Athletics Department, update the website and social media regarding schedules, scores, etc.
  • Update appropriate internal personnel regarding all team rosters for Upper and Middle Level.
  • Work closely with student-athletes, coaches, parents, and college counselors to secure athletic exposure and college scholarship opportunities.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience. Experience in high school or college sports administration preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with varying constituent groups such as student athletes, parents, school administrators and other employees as well as alumnae.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and/or changing priorities. Must be flexible.

Ability to act independently as well as exhibit initiative and be pro-active.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).

Additional Information:

Anticipated salary $55,000 - $65,000.
