Job summary

University of Delaware seeks an Assistant Director for the Office of National Fellowships to recruit, advise, and develop students pursuing nationally and internationally competitive awards. The role collaborates with faculty, staff, and units to identify and support applicants for fellowships such as Fulbright, Gilman, NSF GRFP, and Rhodes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required with two years of related work experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written/verbal communication.
• Experience working with academically exceptional, first‑generation, and low‑income students.
• Ability to promote equity and inclusion and collaborate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Meet with promising students seeking fellowship advising to assess potential and align with academic/professional goals.
• Provide orientation and feedback on the fellowship application process, including essay composition and interview prep.
• Offer scaffolded feedback on students’ written materials for fellowship applications.
• Deliver programming and presentations using preexisting materials (sessions, workshops, retreats) to support competitive applications.
• Support fellowship resources (Canvas sites, slides, writing guides, orientation videos, interview tutorials).
• Serve as primary contact for scholarship foundations and their representatives.
