The Department of Health and Kinesiology is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Director to support the Health Technology Education Program (HTEP). This is a full-time (12-month) position responsible for the operational leadership, strategic recruitment, student advising, and program development of HTEP offerings—including the MS in Health Technology (MS-HT), the interdisciplinary undergraduate minor and certificate in Health Technology, and the Health Tech Micro Course series.

Job Summary
The Assistant Director of the Health Technology and Education Program (HTEP) is responsible for program development of HTEP, including the MS in Health Technology (MS-HT). The position supports operational leadership, strategic recruitment, student advising, and — the interdisciplinary undergraduate minor and certificate in Health Technology, and the Health Tech Micro Course series.
Duties & Responsibilities

Program Operations and Administration

  • Partner with the Director to support the strategic and daily operations of HTEP programs.
  • Assist with long-range planning, implementation, and alignment with department and college goals.
  • Conduct program assessments and prepare analytical reports for stakeholders, including data on admissions, enrollment, and graduation outcomes.
  • Coordinate and execute program events, such as the Annual Capstone Celebration, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Maintain active relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, administrative offices, the advisory board, and partner colleges (e.g., Grainger, Graduate College).
  • Develop and implement professional development programming for graduate students.
  • Facilitate meetings of key committees (e.g., Admissions, Scholarships & Awards, Advisory Board).
  • Lead and manage program-wide communications across all HTEP initiatives.

Recruitment and Admissions

  • Oversee admissions and orientation for the MS-HT program; serve as chair of the Admissions Committee.
  • Lead administration of scholarships and awards, maintaining records and coordinating with AHS Advancement.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and marketing strategies in partnership with the AHS Marketing and Communications Team.
  • Engage with prospective applicants, offering guidance and support throughout the admissions process.
  • Design initiatives to build alumni engagement and strengthen relationships with external partners and career services.

Advising

  • Serve as the primary academic advisor for students in MS-HT, the undergraduate minor and certificate, and Micro Courses.
  • Monitor student progress, support course selection and registration, and advise on academic policies.
  • Certify student completion of degrees and certificates; approve petitions and course changes.
  • Lead coordination of the MS-HT capstone experience, including outreach to partners, matching students with projects, and providing support throughout implementation.
  • Support course development, logistics, and delivery (dependent on academic expertise) of the MS-HT capstone courses (HT 510: Health Technology Capstone Orientation; HT 512: Health Technology Capstone Implementation)

Special Projects

  • Oversee development and maintenance of the HTEP website and the production of the HTEP e-newsletter.
  • Conduct benchmarking and gather feedback through surveys and peer comparisons to inform program enhancements.
  • Support strategic planning through data collection and analysis.
  • Travel occasionally for conferences and special events.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A total of 3 years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in complex academic or training programs.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, ScD) in fields broadly related to health technology.
  • Experience in academic program management, academic advising, program coordination, college admissions/recruitment, higher education administration, or career development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with policies and procedures in higher education program administration.
  • Direct experience with graduate-level programming, including advising and recruitment.
  • Experience teaching in higher education or working with adult learners.
  • Event planning experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of health technology trends and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with administrative tools such as Banner and SLATE.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage diverse programmatic responsibilities, including student services, data management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of higher education environments, curriculum development, and partnership-building with health technology organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and collaboration with faculty, students, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours for special events and to travel occasionally.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 7/7/2025. The previously determined salary range for this position is $65,000 - $79,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
