Job summary

Location: Haven Heights (2122 152nd Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm

Pay: $85,009.60/year

Status: Full-Time/Exempt

The Assistant Director is responsible for program oversight of administrative and supervisory responsibilities. The position oversees the daily operations of the Haven Heights site, while working closely with the Director of Haven Heights to ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and contractual commitments. Their responsibilities also include the direct supervision of program staff and the implementation and tracking of staff training. This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Haven Heights.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain communication with Director of Haven Heights on all contracts, personnel, grievances, IRs, panel reviews, and new contacts with outside agencies for potential partnerships.
  • Directly oversee and manage the operations of the Haven Heights facility and program, including providing supervision to program staff.
  • Responsible for contract administration and compliance.
  • Provide policy and procedure guidance to program staff.
  • Assist with the onboarding and training of new staff.
  • Monitor program staff attendance and coordinate with HR on disciplinary action, as needed, for all program staff.
  • Review and analyze training needs and coordinate training & development programs to improve individual and organizational performance.
  • In coordination with the Director of Haven Heights, participate in short- and long-term planning and goal setting, and evaluate & revise plans as program needs change.
  • Coordinate and facilitate team meetings.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, annual, and periodic statistics and reports as required.
  • Develop and maintain relations with other service organizations and community partners.
  • Coordinate direct referrals from local agencies for resident intakes.
  • Respond to emergency situations that may arise, making decisions within policy guidelines as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency resources and service organizations.
  • Provide supportive care to residents experiencing personal crises.
  • Provide crisis intervention and institute security procedures should a critical or threatening situation arise, including providing timely and appropriate notification to police, fire, emergency medical, and supervisory authorities.
  • Oversee and institute resident disciplinary action and discharges in close supervision and coordination Director of Haven Heights.
  • Ensure the facility's regular practice of public health safety protocols.
  • Conduct periodic walking inspections of the facility for the purpose of identifying and initiating and correcting hazards, inappropriate behavior, necessary repairs, or other notable conditions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to uphold the facility's cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards.
  • Perform other administrative functions as requested.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, or 2+ years of program management and/or case management supervision experience in lieu of formal education.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homeless in a shelter/residential program.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local residential facility statutes and regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in emergency shelter public health and safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of low-barrier, low-demand shelter operations.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines governing personnel administration and government funding.
  • Willingness to comply with safety standards and procedures for both personal and public safety.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, including wage, safety regulations, and labor laws.
  • Knowledge of corrective action, performance management, and progressive discipline models.
  • Understanding and application of culture and how this impacts human behavior and society, being sensitive to diversity and differences in people
  • Knowledge of hard copy and digital records management.
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication.
  • Intermediate level computer skills, including a strong proficiency in internet and email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Willingness and ability to represent The Salvation Army and Seattle Social Services in an aligned productive manner in liaison with Northwest Divisional Headquarters (NW DHQ), local The Salvation Army corps, community members, contracting agencies, as well as Seattle city and King County offices and officials.
  • Willingness to abide by The Salvation Army's drug & alcohol policy.
  • Ability and willingness to understand and fully comply with mandatory reporting requirements and laws pertaining to vulnerable adults and children.
  • Ability to complete CPR, First Aid, & Bloodborne Pathogen training and certification within 90 days of employment.
SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in database management software, including Bitfocus, HMIS, and WellSky.
  • Proficiency in UKG or a similar HRIS.
  • Ability to use a copier/scanner/fax machine as required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in web resources and navigation.
  • Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to rapidly travel over uneven surfaces, up and down steps, up and down ramps, and to climb stepladders as necessary.
