Qualifications

  • Experience with marketing, graphic design, video editing, social media, and photography.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Orientation Partners Program: cultivate partnerships, process invoices, coordinate materials, recruit and evaluate partnerships.
  • Coordinate office assessment and data analytics; create annual Impact Report.
  • Support orientation programming; operate sessions; handle customer service and crisis management.
  • Supervise Graduate Assistant and Marketing Interns; provide feedback.
  • Assist with Orientation systems and platforms VizualZen and Advantage Design Group.
  • Present at meetings and publish on orientation topics.

Job description

The Assistant Director for Communication and Partnerships reports to the Director of New Student Orientation and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all communications, publications, websites, and social media that support New Student Orientation. This role leads the office's partnership program, including the cultivation, management, and retention of external funding and in-kind support.

Job Duties
  • Design, write, and/or edit marketing and informational materials disseminated to incoming students, families, and campus partners, including brochures, mailers, promotional items, and signage; place orders and manage vendor relationships; plan print, email, CRM, and social media strategies; and maintain a positive university presence across web and social channels. (30%)
  • Manage and develop the Orientation Partners Program through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of campus and community partnerships; meet with partners annually, process invoices and payments, coordinate delivery of marketing materials for the Garnet Guide, schedule Orientation Leader training, and recruit and evaluate partnerships. (20%)
  • Coordinate regular office assessment and data analytics to enhance new student and family experiences, interpret data to identify opportunities, implement programmatic change, and create the annual Office of New Student Orientation Impact Report. (15%)
  • Support orientation programming, including day-to-day operations and managing technology during sessions; serve in a staffing rotation hosting orientation sessions; handle customer service and crisis-management situations as they arise. (15%)
  • Supervise a Graduate Assistant and Marketing Interns, meeting regularly to ensure task completion and provide feedback. (10%)
  • Assist with management of Orientation systems and platforms, including VizualZen and Advantage Design Group. (5%)
  • Serve on university committees and other duties as assigned by the Director of New Student Orientation, including presenting at meetings and publishing on orientation-related topics. (5%)
Minimum Required Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor's degree in a job-related field and 4 or more years of job-related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job-related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct university orientation experience.
  • Master's degree.
  • Previous marketing experience including graphic design, video editing, social media, and/or photography.
  • Familiarity with AP style, Adobe Creative Suite, and Mac platform.
  • Experience with online digital marketing tools such as dashboards and constituent relationship management software.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends related to social media tools.
