The successful candidate will oversee purchasing activities, vendor relationships, inventory management, and cost-control initiatives to ensure the continuous availability of food, supplies, and equipment necessary to support patient care and retail food service operations.This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a commitment to operational excellence within a complex healthcare environment.**Responsibilities*** Assist in directing and managing all food service purchasing functions for the department.* Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, service, and competitive pricing.* Monitor inventory levels and implement effective inventory control practices to minimize waste and shortages.* Analyze purchasing trends, utilization data, and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.* Ensure compliance with organizational policies, contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.* Collaborate with Food & Nutrition leadership, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support departmental objectives.* Oversee product sourcing, substitutions, and standardization initiatives.* Participate in budget preparation and expenditure management.* Prepare and present reports related to purchasing, inventory, and operational performance.* Support staff development, workflow improvement, and process optimization initiatives.* Assist with emergency procurement needs and operational contingency planning.**Qualifications****Education*** Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or a related field required.* Master's degree preferred.**Experience*** Minimum of 5 years of progressive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or food service management experience.* Previous healthcare, hospital, hospitality, or institutional food service experience strongly preferred.* Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** Strong understanding of procurement practices, inventory management, and vendor contract administration.* Experience with purchasing systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office applications.* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.* Strong verbal and written communication skills.* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.* Demonstrated commitment to customer service and operational excellence.Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
