Job summary

Montefiore Einstein is seeking an experienced Assistant Director, Food Services Purchasing to oversee procurement operations for the Food & Nutrition Services Department. You will manage purchasing activities, vendor relationships, inventory, and cost-control initiatives to ensure the availability of food, supplies, and equipment for patient care and retail services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or food service management experience.
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in directing and managing all food service purchasing functions for the department.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, service, and competitive pricing.
• Monitor inventory levels and implement effective inventory control practices to minimize waste and shortages.
• Analyze purchasing trends, utilization data, and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.
• Collaborate with Food & Nutrition leadership, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support departmental objectives.
• Oversee product sourcing, substitutions, and standardization initiatives.
• Participate in budget preparation and expenditure management.
• Prepare and present reports related to purchasing, inventory, and operational performance.
• Support staff development, workflow improvement, and process optimization initiatives.
