ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - GPSO FINANCE
Summary

The Assistant Director, Finance will have responsibilities within our GPSO (Global Product Strategy and Operations) Finance function. GPSO is the umbrella for the Commercial and Medical Affairs functions at Ionis. The Assistant Director, GPSO Finance will report to the Executive Director, GPSO Finance.

This position offers the opportunity to be in a “hands-on” role within the Finance team and contribute by delivering financial budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis outputs. At the same time, it serves as a liaison to GPSO stakeholders, becoming knowledgeable of the operations of the GPSO functional groups being supported. It will also contribute to the implementation of new financial systems at Ionis, namely SAP and OneStream.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of finance in a corporate environment, financial modeling capabilities, systems orientation, and the ability to perform responsibilities within tight schedules. This person will have effective interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to build positive cross-functional business relationships. This person must be a proactive self-starter who is capable of prioritizing and handling a wide array of tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver financial and analytical support to select GPSO functions through financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Provide critical strategic decision support to business partners with influence by proactively providing recommendations based on robust financial analyses and models
  • Perform specific analyses to analyze and inform complex decisions
  • Coordinate with various levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare operating budgets and financial forecasts
  • Support month-end close with specific focus on identifying and analyzing variances
  • Interpret and apply corporate financial and accounting policies
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience required; ideally, experience includes support of Commercial and Medical Affairs functions showing continued role development and increased responsibility
  • Working knowledge of GAAP required; Adaptive/OneStream experience preferred
  • Robust Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Life sciences industry experience highly preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task across a wide array of responsibilities using strong time management without missing process deadlines
  • Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with peers, different levels of management, and other organizational stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner
  • Comfortable in an interrogative environment; collaborative and open to debate to manage projects, solve problems, and discuss challenging issues
