Job summary

County of Wisconsin seeks an Assistant Director of Field Operations to lead the Maintenance Center’s day-to-day functions and staff, while advising the Director on budgeting, contracts, and long-range plans. The role focuses on service delivery, policy compliance, and operational excellence across county facilities.

The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and ability to coordinate with multiple departments to improve efficiency and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in business administration, finance, accounting, public administration, construction management, transportation planning, or a related field
• Four (4) years of related experience and Five (5) years of supervisory experience required
• Class C driver license required

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day management of employees assigned to the Maintenance Center.
• Fills in for the Director in the director's absence.
• Develops and monitors program implementation and service delivery methods.
• Prepares cost estimates and negotiates interlocal agreements.
• Oversees operating and capital budgets and financial controls.
• Promotes interagency collaboration and contract administration.
• Attends meetings and represents the County on boards or regional agencies.
• Administers personnel matters including hiring, performance evaluations, and staff development.
